About SMBkits

SMBkits builds small, focused, free tools for people running a small business — calculators for pricing and margins, generators for the paperwork nobody enjoys writing, and anything else that saves a few minutes of a busy day.

Calculators run entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere. A handful of AI-powered generator tools send only the text you enter to Google's Gemini API to produce a result; each of those pages says so. Either way, there's no account to create and no card to enter.

We keep the site running with a small amount of advertising rather than by charging small business owners for a calculator. If a tool is useful to you, that's the whole point.

SMBkits is an independent, small project — not affiliated with any of the software or platforms our tools help you work with.

What you can find here

29 free tools in five groups: pricing and margins, financial planning, invoicing and payments, hiring and people, and marketing and content. There are also 38 guides that explain the calculations and the paperwork behind them, with worked examples. Start from the tool list or the guides.

Frequently asked questions

Q.Who runs SMBkits?

SMBkits is an independent, small project — not a large company, and not affiliated with any of the platforms or software its tools help you work with.

Q.How does SMBkits make money if the tools are free?

Through a small amount of advertising, not by charging small business owners for a calculator.

Q.How are the articles written and checked?

Where a guide states an outside rule, rate or fee, such as a tax rate or a payment fee, it links to the source it was read from. Worked examples use fictional businesses with numbers we calculate ourselves, and we label them as examples. Where something is our advice rather than a rule, the text says so.

Q.Is the content financial, tax or legal advice?

No. The tools and guides are general information to help you work faster. Tax, payroll and contract rules vary by country and situation, so check them with the relevant authority or a qualified professional before you rely on a result.

Q.How do I report a mistake?

Email us from the Contact page with the page address and what looks wrong. We check the claim against its source and correct the page if we find an error.

Q.Do you sell or share the data I enter into a tool?

We don't have it to sell — calculators run entirely in your browser, and the generator tools only send your text to Google's Gemini API to produce a result. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
