Free Local Competitor Map and Trade Area Analyzer
Enter your business type and an address. We map the nearby businesses of the same kind, show how crowded the area is, list the best-reviewed ones on Google Maps, and write up what it means for you.
This tool sends the address you enter to Geoapify and, with your business type, to Google's Gemini API (Google Maps grounding) to generate results. Business data © OpenStreetMap contributors, powered by Geoapify. See our Privacy Policy.
How it works
Before you open a shop or choose where to advertise, it helps to know how crowded the neighborhood already is. Enter a business type and an address and this tool maps the same-type businesses around that point, counts them by distance, and shows how dense the area is per square kilometer.
It then pulls the best-reviewed matches from Google Maps — their ratings, review counts and price ranges — and writes a short, plain-English read of both datasets: how competitive the area is, what the data shows, ways to stand out and caveats. The write-up uses only the data collected; it does not invent businesses or numbers.
Business locations come from OpenStreetMap through Geoapify, so coverage varies by area and some shops may be missing. The address and business type you enter are sent to Geoapify, and the business type and location to Google's Gemini API with Google Maps grounding; see the Privacy Policy for details. The tool is free with a daily limit.

Frequently asked questions
Q.Is the local area check really free?
Yes, with a daily limit. The data providers behind it have free daily quotas, so when the day's limit is used up the tool pauses until the next day and shows a message instead of failing.
Q.Where does the competitor data come from?
Nearby businesses come from OpenStreetMap via Geoapify, so coverage depends on how well your area is mapped. The best-reviewed list, with ratings and review counts, comes from Google Maps through the Gemini API and is a ranked sample, not every business.
Q.How accurate is the written analysis?
It is generated only from the collected counts, distances and Google Maps sample, with instructions not to invent facts. Treat it as a quick read to guide your own research, not as a market study.
Q.What information is sent to a server?
The address you enter goes to Geoapify to find nearby businesses, and the business type and location go to Google's Gemini API to fetch Google Maps results and write the analysis. Nothing is stored by SMBkits afterward.
Q.Is this the same as a local competitor analysis tool?
Yes — local competitor analysis tool, trade area analysis tool, and competitor map tool all describe the same kind of tool: one that shows who your nearby competitors are and how crowded the area is.
